Pickleball Club News

Pickleball Club Members news….

The past year has been a challenge for the pickleball club as, with the sale of the park, uncertainty existed with respect to expectations and how the park and club would function in relation to club operations.  On March 29th the Pickleball Coordinators, along with representatives of all other clubs, met with the Activity Director.  At the meeting Betty Corbin, Activities Director outlined how Sun Vista RV Resort will operate, their expectations and supports they will provide .

First and foremost Park Management expects the various clubs to manage and coordinate club activities.  For our Pickleball Club that means scheduling court time, providing general minor maintenance, and cleaning of the courts .  The only requirement is that the club must ensure that open court play is available for non-club members.

A summary of other operational requirements are as follows:

  1. The park wants clubs to be more self governing and standardized of operations for all clubs.  This  includes collecting membership fees, proper financial controls and process and reporting to the park twice per year.
  2. The Pickleball club is expected to cover the cost of daily and operational expenses. Larger expenditures will be based on an approved application from the owners of the park.  Generally, larger expenditures will be based on a 50/50 split between the Resort and the SV Pickleball Club.
  3. The park will collect 10% of the dues and fees, sale of products, donations and other club revenues. The funds collected by the park will help to reduce overhead costs and offset some of the larger expenses.
  4. All clubs will have to adhere to new regulations and process with respect to food sales or services.
  5. The Resort will provide liability insurance to cover club activities as long as proper safety procedures are followed.

We felt it important to share this information with all club members  as changes to how the club functions will  be required.  Due to the lateness of the season and the lack of time to solicit input from club members this will happen next season once a majority of club members return for the  season.

From the Coordinators group we wish you all the very best for the summer and hope to see everyone next fall/winter.  Take Care & Safe Travels
